Acne refers not only to pimples but a
lot of other forms of skin lesions, all ranging in the severity, form, and
cause of the condition.
Acne
Vulgaris
This is the most common type of
acne, which is also subdivided into three, according to its severity.
- Non-inflammatory Acne
- The mildest form of acne vulgaris that includes the
formation of blackheads and whiteheads that produces none or little
scarring.
- Inflammatory Acne
- A moderately severe form of acne vulgaris that includes
the formation of macules, papules, and pustules that produces mild
scarring.
- Cystic Acne
- The severest form of acne vulgaris that includes the
formation of nodules and cysts that produces deep scarring.
Acne
Rosacea
Similar in form to acne vulgaris,
acne rosacea is also considered a type of acne but its cause is not known.
Treatment is still possible although no cure has been found yet for this type
of acne.
Other
Forms of Acne
There are other quite rare and more severe
forms of acne that would need a qualified dermatologist for treatment:
- Acne Filminans
- Acne Conglobata
- Pyoderma Faciale
- Gram-Negative Folliculitis
